Committed to Sustainability Until The Cows Come Home

The employees of York Spiral Stair and parent company Duratherm Window have a long-standing commitment to sustainable operations, ranging from materials and energy conservation to donating labor and materials to community projects. We are pleased to introduce two new additional baluster options for our stairs: a turned baluster and a tapered square baluster. The turned baluster gives a York stair a more formal or traditional look and the tapered square baluster gives a York stair a more rustic look… a look designed to complement both timber frame and log home interiors. With nine different hard woods to choose from, as well as open, partial and closed riser options, four different handrail options and now four different baluster options, York can design and build a stair that best complements your interior. Please let us know how we can make your design intent a reality!

York Spiral Stair’s Environmental Stewardship

York Spiral Stair is making great strides to decrease our energy consumption, reduce waste, and lessen our use of fossil fuels. We recently installed a clean-burn wood furnace that uses waste wood and sawdust to heat our facility. The new, carbon neutral furnace is expected to reduce our need for #2 fuel oil by at least 10,000 gallons per year. This is just one of many steps York Spiral Stair has taken in the past year to conserve natural resources and protect the environment.
