Balusters are the wooden vertical posts between the handrails and the stringers. They are available either round or square. Our standard spacing is 6 inches on center.

Square wood balusters are mounted on the outside of handrails and stringers and therefore require a larger stairwell opening. Check your local building code for maximum horizontal spacing distance.
